General Information About Canada Visa Application Fees

Applicants applying for a Canadian visa to Canada must pay a compulsory visa application charge when they submit their application online or in person.

Each Canadian Visa has its own charges. You pay for the application charges and other fees in order to receive your visa. These fees however vary depending on the type of visa you are applying for, are also non-refundable.  The different types of Canadian visas are:

Temporary resident visa is for applicants who are coming to Canada for a short period of time, either for visit, tourism, studies, Super Visa, temporary work in Canada, etc.

The visa charges for a student visa will be slightly different from a visitor or tourist visa. However, other charges like biometric charges and more are required for any type of visa you are applying for and the number of persons applying.

Biometric Charges for Canada Visa

One of the requirements the embassy officials will ask from you is your biometrics. This process is very vital to obtaining a Canadian visa and it not free. A biometrics fee will cover the cost of a digital photo and fingerprints.

When you submit your visa application via a Visa Application Center (VAC), the fee you paid will cover the cost of VAC services which includes Checking if an application is complete, Sending the application to the visa office, Moving passports and supporting documents to and from the visa office, and Tracking applications that are submitted online;

Permanent Residence Visa Fees

Applicants eligible to apply for a permanent resident visa are only permanent residents of Canada. It permits them to settle permanently, and travel in out of Canada at any time. The charges to obtain this type of is way higher compared to the temporary resident visa, and the requirements are also different.

The fees for a permanent resident visa are paid when your application has been approved or when the government officials inform you to pay and it is non-refundable.

After you have obtained your permanent resident status, you will have to get yourself a permanent resident card.
