Canada Has Reduced Period to Submit Permanent Residence Application to 60 Days

The Canadian authority has cut down the express entry application wait period to 60 days. This means that candidates will now have 60 days from the date they get their invitation to apply.  The news which was announced on June 29, 2021, indicated that Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will henceforth relax the COVID-19 requirements and measures to allow permanent residence applicants up to 60 days to submit their application.

Due to COVID-19 measures and rules, IRCC had extended the date for submitting the application for permanent residence to 90 days after receiving an Invitation to Apply. This was a unanimous decision to allow applicants more time to prepare their documents amidst the pandemic effect.

Currently, things are gradually returning to normal in Canada and around the world, and in other to process more applications faster and quicker, IRCC has also reached another decision to reduce the number of days to 60. This would also help the visa application department to process higher volumes of applications.

IRCC also will put into consideration those who were affected by the coronavirus-related public health restrictions in one way or another, this includes those who are yet to apply for Canadian immigration, those whose applications are still being processed, Confirmation of Permanent Residency (COPR) holders, and many others.

This news will take effect from the 29th of June 2021, which means that all Express Entry applicants who received an invitation before June 29, 2021, will still have a 90-day window to submit their application for permanent resident. So, candidates who were invited to the last draw will not be affected by the change, but those invited in the weeks to come will be.

This would mean that things are gradually returning to what they used to be back in 2018. Back then, IRCC also reduced it from 90 days after finding that 57 percent of applicants applied within two months.

Candidates who are looking to move to Canada can now proceed with their plans accordingly as so many immigration measures affecting applications are gradually eased. Applications will be processed a lot faster and applicants can also travel now without restrictions.
